I am a physicist, data scientist, lover of the outdoors, husband and father among other things. I like to write little posts on this site about things that currently interest me. It is a way for me to process the world around me and to create. If any of the posts are useful or enjoyable to you then all the better!

How can individuals gain access to the power of data? How can science and technology make our lives and society more vibrant? These are questions I am interested in. The open source, open data, and open science movements are in the right direction. In this vein, I worked with Code for Newark, to make open source tools that give people access to data that affects them. I’m looking for more ways to take part in these movements while balancing the reality of daily life.

Professionally, I am vice-president of research and development at Spheryx, which is a early-stage company commercializing holographic particle characterization. This new technology is used for analyzing things like protein aggregates in protein based medicines. I enjoy working on a small team solving problems and figuring out how to do new things.

The world is awesome. It’s also confusing and strange sometimes. Let’s explore and make sense of it!
